Last week Derek was at work and was grinding some metal and the grinder caught on something and kicked back and hit him in the face. He went to Insta-Care and they sent him to the ER to see a plastic surgeon. They took him in to surgery at about 7pm and put him out while they cut away all the mangled skin and sewed him up.
This first picture is of his face while at the hospital. We didn't get a really good picture of it, it just kind of seemed like a bad moment to take a picture, ya know? Anyway, to be fair, it looked much worse than this.
This is of him in his room after his surgery. 
He looks much better now, and he's feeling better, too. Just thought I should share this beautiful new future scar.

Wow, that looks bad! Sheesh that would be scary. I'm glad to hear that he's feeling a little better now!
Oh my gosh That is so scary. Glad he is ok. no more metal grinding for awhile!!
Holy crap. That is so scary, it's so close to his throat! I bet you about died!!! Glad he is okay and scars are awesome, my dad has a few on his face from a four wheeling accident we just tell him that they make him look tougher!!
Yikes!! What a manly man!
Poor guy. Good thing men think scars are cool!
